We make sure Amazon gets worth for money every time it buys non-inventory goods and services for its Fulfillment Centers (FCs), Logistics (AMZL) and all other business units. It’s a fast operation that supports growth and alter, works with every department and is driven by key performance indicators. We work as part of teams, meeting regularly to cement our relationships and approach. Our MENA category management team is growing and we are hiring a Category Manager with Pan-MENA responsibilities to join the team in our Headquarters in lovely Dubai. Category Manager will serve in a pivotal role, leading strategic sourcing engagements across a wide range of business units to enable new business initiatives to launch and scale rapidly. Spend categories under MENA category management include Material Handling Equipment (MHE), Powered Industrial Trucks (PIT), Storage (Shelving, Racking etc.), IT-Software and Technology, HR, Travel, Temporary Labor, Facility Management, Architecture, Real Estate & Construction, Industrial Supplies (PPE/Safety etc.) and others. Key leadership traits required include the ability to influence and form strong partnerships with business leaders, and operational excellence in managing multiple complex and competing priorities simultaneously. Category Managers are expert practitioners in the tools for creating competitive environments, and have a strong bias for decision-making rooted in data and analytics. The ideal candidate will demonstrate subject matter expertise in capex procurement (PIT, MHE, Real Estate/Construction, IT), strong knowledge of FIDIC standards in Middle East and Africa, understanding of compliance/due-diligence requirements in Middle East and Africa, security services, energy/utilities, structuring TCO based long-term contracts, supply chain automation and delivery. He/She will demonstrate bias for action, have strong customer empathy, will think big, and embody a unique mix of artist and scientist. The candidate will possess attention to detail, excellent communication skills, the ability to drive consensus across multiple stakeholders and be a great team player. The ability to work independently and deal with an ambiguous environment is a must.

Primary Responsibilities:
1. Establish 1-3-5 year category strategies, lead cross-functional strategic sourcing teams, negotiate with suppliers and execute contracts to optimize Amazon’s competitive position.
2. Drive appropriate commercial relationships with class suppliers, with a principal objective of achieving the lowest total cost of ownership that meets the business’ goals supported by a culture of continuous improvement with value & performance benchmarks in use.
3. Manage category suppliers to proactively identify, monitor and optimize opportunities.
4. Act as a market intelligence provider regarding categories; anticipate strategic opportunities and keep key stakeholders informed.
5. Analyze industry trends and evolving technologies.
6. Drive category suppliers in Supplier Relationship Management activities to mitigate risk, improve performance and add value to Amazon.
7. Build total cost of ownership models and determine opportunities to leverage and consolidate the supply base, using smart analytical tools and techniques.
8. Implement an invoicing, cost control and Monthly/Quarterly Business Review (MBR/QBR) process with suppliers.
9. Align with internal customers and understand the business application of the category.
Drive due diligence with legal and tax teams.
10. Own and maintain the category playbook.
11. Develop supplier performance management program(s) to monitor progress against defined SLA's and contractual commitments.
12. Negotiation and implementation of supplier agreements/contracts by working with cross-functional stakeholders and suppliers to reach agreement on contract terms and conditions.
13. Helping to develop long-term department strategies and significantly influencing the cross-company project development and delivery processes and standards.
14. Keys to success in this role include sound judgement and excellent written/verbal communication skills.
15. The candidate should be able to extract insights from data and be able to communicate appropriately.

1. 6+ years of relevant strategic sourcing experience, to include at minimum 5 years in an indirect procurement function at a multinational corporation with global contracts.
2. 6+ years of in-depth procurement practices (category management, bench-marking, should-cost models, RFX, reverse auction, contracting, etc.).
3. Education: BS/BA Degree in related field.
4. Fluency in Arabic

3. Strong negotiator with proven experience in setting negotiation strategies and conducting negotiations.
4. Extensive knowledge of the basic types of commercial agreement structures and the function and purpose of key legal terms.
5. Can assess risk and concisely explain complex issues to principal business owners.
6. Extremely customer-focused and takes the time to understand the needs of the business.
7. Strong analytical skills including the ability to quickly synthesize, distill and draw conclusions on large amounts of disparate data.
8. Ability to manage multiple simultaneous projects requiring frequent communication, organization, time management, and problem-solving skills.
9. Excellent written and oral communication skills.
10. Passionate self-starter.
