Demo Services Operations IC3 Role
Demo Services builds and maintains world class demonstration environments that enable the global Sales organization and Oracle's Partners to showcase Oracle's IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS platform to our growing customer base. The demonstration environments are monitored 24/7 for availability, performance and usage. Our groups mission is to provide highly available and highly performant demonstration environments while balancing the investment of cloud capacity.

Demo Services Operations team is responsible for:

• Incident Management – Address the issues via Jira
• Problem Management – Analyze the incidents and log bugs with the support teams for getting resolution to the persistent issues / problems.
• Change Management – Implement / coordinate various approved changes
• Management of the environments & VMs - shutdown, startup, restart, health

• Environment / Product Patching - under agreed conditions
• May include SR / coordination with Cloud Infra teams for product patches and/or updates
• KPI: automation manages 95% of these environments/services tasks & remainder are worked with human intervention
• 24x7 Environment Monitoring -- Ensure environment monitoring tools are implemented on the environment & reviewed for issues
• KPI: 98% of all alerts/jobs for monitored targets are remedied with automation / bot intervention

• Correlation of @cloud outages/incidents with service outages/incidents

Demo Services Operations IC3 Role and Responsibilities

• Lifecycle management activities (provision, backup, clone, update, retire) of cloud-based Fusion SaaS applications for use in complex high-profile Oracle sales opportunities. The position will focus on existing and newly developed Oracle Cloud Demos consisting of SaaS and PaaS for SaaS services.
• Provisioning new environments for the sales teams by deploying new virtual machines (VM) using images defined by our build and development teams.
• Knowledge of deploying and running large scale online systems built on Cloud platforms such as Oracle Cloud, AWS, Azure, Google Cloud Platform, and/or OpenStack.
• Knowledge of one or more orchestration, deployment tools, e.g. Terraform, Ansible, and/or Chef.
• Experience in Shell Scripting and/or Python, Perl, etc.
• Starting, stopping, backing up and restoring the environments using tools created by our infrastructure and development teams
• Upgrading environments from one version to another through a retire and redeploy process
• Patching the environments to unique requirements
• Retiring demonstration environments when they are no longer needed
• Monitoring the environments using prescribed monitoring tools.
• Monitoring and managing jobs for the environments in the job control system
• Working with the build and development teams on quality control of new images
• Participating in Quarterly Maintenance for all the Demo infrastructure
• Design, develop, troubleshoot and debug DevOps software for databases, applications, tools, networks etc.
• Must work well within a global team with an ability to work un-supervised.
• Automate to improve SLAs across all LCM activities.

The candidate must have-
Technical Skills:

• 4-6 years of DevOps experience within IT Industry.
• Experience in any of the Cloud Technologies such as Oracle Cloud, AWS, Azure, Google Cloud Platform, and/or OpenStack. (Preferred Certified professionals).
• Good knowledge of Unix and Linux Commands / Utilities
• Good working experience on Linux virtualization environment
• Conceptual knowledge on Storage technologies (such as NFS / SAN).
• Good understanding of Network concepts.
• Good working knowledge of Application Servers (Weblogic/Websphere/Tomcat). Should be familiar with Architecture and basic troubleshooting
• Basic Oracle DBA Knowledge.
• Working knowledge in any of the monitoring tools.
• Scripting using Bash, Python, Perl or other common Linux scripting languages.
• Working knowledge on Red Hat / Oracle Enterprise Linux.

Preferred:

• Basic Database Administration experience.
• Basic troubleshooting skills with one or more cloud technologies.

Detailed Description and Job Requirements
Responsible for our production infrastructure, including the servers and services which support our growing client base as well as designing and implementing highly scalable environments. This Engineer works with other teams in the organization and provides infrastructure solutions for their needs. Understands client systems and applications, networking, infrastructure, data centers, web tools and technologies, databases and Cloud, Big Data, Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP), and more.

Design new scalable solutions for fast changing infrastructure environment with complex needs in fields like: configuration deployments, monitoring, and logging. Perform deep drill down analysis into performance bottlenecks and provide necessary fixes. Bring in new ideas, change, evolve, improve and simplify the production infrastructure. Work closely with our development and research teams and provide customer friendly solutions and support. Responsible for working on the design, development, and/or deployment of enterprise supporting systems.

BS degree or equivalent experience relevant to functional area. Suggested majors include Computer Science or Mathematics. Working knowledge of software development tools, methodologies, and programming languages. Experience working with external or internal customers to implement large scale solutions, business process architecture, application system design, and implementation. Design and implementation of Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS), Platform as a Service (PaaS) and Software as a Service (SaaS) solutions using a variety of cloud platform services. Highly technical and analytical, possessing significant implementation and operations experience. Identifies solutions in experience of application or server architecture and networking. A minimum of 5+ years experience in application or server architecture and networking or related experience.
